The conference is a one-day conference where you can engage with inspiring keynote presentations from leading experts, participate in dynamic discussions and interactive sessions, and seize valuable networking opportunities with peers and influential industry leaders.
This activity is designed specifically for emergency physicians and explores the latest advances in emergency medicine. It covers a range of critical care topics, including emerging trends, best practices, innovative treatment strategies, and cutting-edge research. Through interactive sessions and real-world case studies, you will gain practical insights and expertise to enhance your skills in resuscitating stroke patients, managing pulmonary infections in the emergency department, addressing pediatric sepsis, recognizing geriatric delirium, and treating acute pulmonary embolism. Additionally, you will learn about innovations in EMS patient care, stay updated with the latest guidelines and recommendations, and integrate evidence-based practices into your daily workflow.

Keynote Speakers

Haney Mallemant, MD
Dr. Mallemat is currently an Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine and Internal Medicine at the Cooper Medical School at Rowan University. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Mallemat has developed a reputation as an expert in emergency medicine, critical care, resuscitation, and ultrasound.

Alison J. Haddock, MD, FACEP
Dr. Haddock currently serves as regional dean for the Everett campus of the Washington State University Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine. Previously, she was a tenured associate professor of emergency medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Haddock is the past chair of the ACEP Board of Directors, Past Chair of the ACEP State Legislative Committee, and a Past Board Member of the Emergency Medicine Residents Association and Texas College of Emergency Physicians. Dr. Haddock is a published research author, public speaker, and advocate on topics that include health policy, physician wellness, and state and federal legislative issues. She attended medical school at Weill Medical College of Cornell University and completed her emergency medicine residency at the University of Michigan.
Speakers

Cheyenne Falat, MD
Dr. Falat attended medical school at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and completed her Emergency Medicine residency, chief residency, and Faculty Development Fellowship at the University of Maryland. She has a passion for environmental medicine, procedural education, and patient safety and flow.

R. Gentry Wilkerson, MD, FACEP
Dr. Wilkerson joined the emergency medicine faculty at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2012. Earlier in his career, he was the Director of Research for the Emergency Medicine Residency Program at the University of South Florida in Tampa. His research interests include allergic reactions, angioedema, congestive heart failure, sexually transmitted infections, and ultrasound.

Katie Lorenz, MD
Dr. Lorenz is an instructor and current Medical Education Fellow in the Department of Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Lorenz graduated from medical school at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. She completed her residency training at Johns Hopkins University, where she served as chief resident.

Brianna Klucher, MD
Dr. Klucher is a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Emergency Medicine. She is completing a Faculty Development Fellowship with an emphasis on Medical Education and serving as a Chief Resident at the University of Maryland Emergency Medicine Program. Dr. Klucher completed her residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland and previously completed medical schooling at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences. Dr. Klucher's interests include medical education, wellness, and equitable treatment of patients and healthcare professionals. She has clinical interests in geriatric emergency medicine and has been recognized with speaking awards for lectures on end-of-life care.

Jay Pershad, MD
Jay Pershad MD, FAAP, FACEP is a Professor of Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics, at the George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences. He’s a practicing emergency physician at Children’s National Hospital in Washington DC. He calls himself a “PGY 30” and is a passionate educator, both at the bedside and in the classroom, to learners of all levels.

Timothy P. Chizmar, MD, FAEMS, FACEP
Dr. Chizmar serves as the State EMS Medical Director at the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems. He is a board-certified physician in Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medical Services. Dr. Chizmar graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine and completed residency training in Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland Medical Center and R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Dr. Chizmar practices emergency medicine at the University of Maryland Upper Chesapeake Medical Center, where he has been on staff for fourteen years. Dr. Chizmar has enjoyed three terms as a director on the Maryland ACEP Board and Chapter EMS Committee chairman. He has previously served as our political action committee (PAC) treasurer as well.

Michael C. Bond, MD, FAAEM, FACEP
Dr. Bond is a professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD, and an attending physician at the University of Maryland Medical Center – Midtown campus and recently assumed the role of Chief of Emergency Medicine at the site. He is also the associate designated institutional official at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Dr Bond received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine/internal medicine residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, and an Emergency Medicine Foundation teaching fellowship with the American College of Emergency Physicians. In addition, Dr Bond served in the US Navy Reserve as a General Medical Officer.

Ethan Do, MD
Dr. Do is an emergency medicine physician in York, Pennsylvania. He is currently licensed to practice medicine in Pennsylvania. He is affiliated with WellSpan York Hospital.

Kyle Glose, MD
Bio

Chastity Greene, MD
Dr. Greene is an aspiring emergency medicine physician who will graduate from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee. Upon graduation, she will begin her residency with Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine in Baltimore, Maryland. Johns Hopkins was Dr. Greene’s top choice. Greene graduated from TSU in 2015. She majored in biology and minored in chemistry. While at TSU, she was the president of Collegiate 100 Black Women, secretary of Tri Beta National Honor Society, and she was a member of the Gamma Psi chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. Greene was also a Freeman Scholar in the Thomas F. Freeman Honors College. She credits TSU with introducing her to the field of medicine and exposing her to mentorship opportunities that helped get her on the path to achieving her dreams.

Lauren K. Rosenfeld MD
Lauren Rosenfeld is a third year emergency medicine resident at George Washington University. She completed undergraduate training at the University of Oregon with major in Chinese and Chemistry, transitioned to New York where she completed a Masters in Education with the Teach For America program, and finished medical school at the University of Miami with a focus on Health Law. She serves on the board of ACEP both on the national level and for the local DC chapter. She is excited to transition into her final year of residency where she hopes to further develop her passions for education and health policy.
Conference Planners

Sarah B. Dubbs, MD, FACEP
Dr. Dubbs is an Associate Professor in Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the Director of the Emergency Medicine Residency Program. After her residency training at the University of Maryland Medical Center, she completed a Faculty Development Fellowship with a certificate from the American College of Emergency Physicians Teaching Fellowship. She worked in the community hospital setting before returning to UMMC. In addition to medical education, Dr. Dubbs has interests in oncologic emergencies, with numerous publications, podcasts, and national and international invitational lectures on these topics. She has won many teaching awards, including the ACEP National Junior Faculty Teaching Award.

Sarah K. Sommerkamp, MD
Dr. Sommerkamp is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. She is currently the Associate Director of Emergency Medicine at the Midtown Campus. She is the Quality and Safety lead physician for Emergency Medicine. She received her medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School and then completed an emergency medicine residency, followed by an emergency ultrasound fellowship at the University of Maryland. She has completed the ACEP Teaching Fellowship and the first 2 stages of the ACEP Directors Academy. She has academic teaching interests in Emergency Ultrasound, OB/GYN, urogenital topics, and patient safety and flow.

Jason D. Adler, MD, CEDC, FAAEM, FACEP
Dr. Adler is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at the University of Maryland Residency Program and serves as the department's Director of Compliance and Reimbursement. He is the current ICD-10 workgroup chair for ACEP's Coding and Nomenclature Advisory Committee and Chair of EDPMA's Quality Coding Documentation Committee. Dr. Adler has experience as a claim reviewer for the Maryland Medicaid program. Dr. Adler is a certified coder, and Vice President of Coding at LogixHealth where he focuses on the intersection of coding policy and clinical education.
