American College of Emergency Physicians, Maryland Chapter exists to support quality emergency medical care and promote the needs and interests of emergency physicians by:

  • Enlightening public awareness of emergency issues.

  • Acting as advocates before the legislative branches of local, state and national government

  • Developing continuing medical education programs for the emergency medicine provider community.

Registration for the Leadership and Advocacy Conference is now open. Many exciting workshops have been planned and there will be several sessions on chapter leadership, including: Chapter Leadership Orientation, Chapter Officers Forum and the breakfast sessions for large chapters and small/medium chapters.

Many sessions will be offered regarding advocacy, public policy, public relations and also visits with key legislators on the Hill. Several receptions have been planned including the opening reception and the Congressional Reception on Tuesday evening. This year a maximum of 8.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM can be earned at the meeting.

Our featured speakers this year are Dan Morhaim MD, FACEP, Deputy Majority Leader, Maryland Hose of Delegates; John A. Barrasso, MD, US Senator (R-WY); Joseph R. Pitts, US Representative (R-PA); and Marilyn Tavenner, Acting Administrator, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
